The Tokyo Marathon course
The Tokyo Marathon starts in the skyscraper district of Shinjuku, near the Metropolitan Government Building, and runs through the dense center of the city. It is fast and largely flat, with immaculate crowd support.
The course passes a sweep of landmarks, the Imperial Palace, Iidabashi, Asakusa and the Senso-ji temple gate at the turnaround, before heading south toward the finish near Tokyo Station and the bayfront.
