The London Marathon course
The London Marathon starts on Blackheath near Greenwich and runs largely flat and fast along the south bank before crossing the river. Early miles pass the Cutty Sark, with the crowds among the loudest of any major.
The halfway point comes on Tower Bridge, one of the most photographed moments in road running, before the course swings east into the Isle of Dogs and Canary Wharf. The closing miles run west along the Embankment past the London Eye and Big Ben, finishing on The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.
Cairn renders your real line over the actual Thames-side streets, the bridges, the parks, so the map reads as London, not an abstract squiggle.
