The Chicago Marathon course
The Chicago Marathon is a flat loop that starts and finishes in Grant Park, making it one of the fastest courses in the world and a perennial world-record contender. The route heads north early before turning back through the Loop and out across the West and South Sides.
Its signature is the tour of neighborhoods, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, the Loop, Little Italy, Pilsen, Chinatown, Bronzeville, each with its own character and crowds. The course closes with the short, sharp rise on Roosevelt Road, the only real hill, before the finish back in Grant Park.
